MTFF space station in Earth orbit, cutaway artwork. The Man-Tended Free Flyer (MTFF) was a space station that was planned by the European Space Agency (ESA) in the late 1980s,before being cancelled in 1991. It had been intended that the ESA's proposed Hermes space shuttle would have serviced the MTFF,bringing crew to and from the space station. The solar panels (blue) would have provided power. The MTFF was part of the Columbus program to complement NASA's plans for a space station. In the end,the MTFF design became ESA's Columbus science laboratory for the International Space Station (ISS) | |
