Rebbachisaurus fossil excavation. Palaeontologists cleaning and hardening the fossil bones of a sauropod dinosaur called Rebbachisaurus. This will be followed by undercutting the fossils and applying a plaster jacket to preserve them. These are limb and girdle bones of this large dinosaur,which was 20 metres long. It was found in Africa around 99 million years ago,during the Cretaceous period. These fossils were found in Niger,in the southern Sahara. Photographed in 1988 | |
