Ichthyosis skin condition. 18th-century journal page showing a stem with berries being held by the hand of a boy with an ichthyosis skin disorder. The boy is a son of Edward Lambert,the 'porcupine man'. Lambert and his children had a severe form of ichthyosis hystrix,where massive hyperkeratosis (skin thickening) led to the entire body except the face and palms,soles,and genitals,being covered in wart-like cylindrical growths (lower left).
