Saenger/Horus spaceplane. Computer artwork of the proposed Saenger spaceplane, carrying the smaller Horus space shuttle on its back, high up in the Earth's atmosphere. The Saenger/Horus system is designed to provide a cheap method of launching astronauts and cargo into space. The Saenger would take off from a normal runway and, powered by jet engines, climb to 37,000 metres. It would then release the Horus which would use rockets to propel itself into orbit. Saenger and Horus are designed to be reusable. They are German designs | |
