Fossil fish. Illustration depicting a fossil of Gyroptychium agassizi,a lobe-finned fish that lived in the Devonian period 416-359 million years ago. G. agassizi was a fast swimming riverine predator that grew to about 30cm in length. When first described it was given the name Diplopterus borealis,but was later reclassified.
