Henize 2-10 starburst galaxy. Composite image combining X-ray data from the Chandra X-ray Observatory (pink, centre),radio data from the Very Large Array (yellow, centre),and optical data from the Hubble Space Telescope (rest of image). The X-ray and radio data indicates the presence of a supermassive black hole, even though this is a relatively small (dwarf) galaxy. A high rate of star formation has produced clusters of hot young stars (blue). This image is about 3600 light years across. Henize 2-10 is located around 30 million light years from Earth,in the constellation of Pyxis. Image published in 2011 | |
