Great crested grebes (Podiceps cristatus) feeding a damselfly to their chicks. This bird is found on waters throughout most of Europe and Asia. It feeds on fish in lakes and rivers, diving from the water's surface to catch its prey, though other food is also taken. There are usually two eggs, though there can be more, and the chicks are cared for by both parents. Photographed in Surrey,UK | |
