Conker. Fruit of the common horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) tree. It's soft spiny shell has split open to reveal the hard nut inside interior. In the UK,conkers are used in a children's game. The conkers are hung from a piece of string and competitors take it in turns to attack their opponent's conker with their own until one or other is destroyed.
