Laser Megajoule data storage. These Linear Tape-Open (LTO) data storage blocks support the TERA-10 supercomputer used by the Laser Megajoule (LMJ). This computer includes 56 NovaScale servers managing a petabyte (one million, billion bytes) of disk space, with 100 gigabytes of bandwidth. The LMJ is an experimental nuclear fusion device being built near Bordeaux,France. It uses 240 laser beams and 1.8 megajoules of power to heat a target to the point where fusion and power generation takes place. Construction of the LMJ is scheduled for completion in 2012.
