Bacterial preservation of stone monuments. Jean-Francois Loubiere, founder of the company Calcite Bioconcept, using a bacterial nutrient spray to preserve a statue. The spray deposits Bacillus cereus bacteria onto the stone statue. The bacteria produce a thin layer of limestone by a process of biomineralisation. This protects the statue against further erosion.
