Strawberry poison dart frog. Strawberry poison dart frog (Dendrobates pumilio) calling from a rock. His vocal sac is seen expanded here. This amplifies his call, which is used to attract females for mating. Strawberry poison dart frogs inhabit the forest floors in tropical rainforests In Central America. Their bright skin colouration warns predators that they are highly poisonous,as glands in their skin secrete a potent poison. They take their name from the practice of native people tipping their arrows and blow darts with this poison. These tiny frogs rarely exceed three centimetres in length.
