Sea lily. View of a sea lily (class: Crinoidea). This is a primitive creature of the phylum Echinodermata which possesses several feathery arms which serve to trap food particles from the water. These particles are then passed to the mouth along the arms. Sea lilies are sessile, that is they remain in one place for their whole lives, bonded to their substrate by a stalk.
