Kingleys Waterbabies was a positive literary response to Darwin's 'Origin of Species". "The Waterbabies" was a moralising tale that included human 'do-as-you-likes' de-evolving back to apes and newts because of their careless ways. Despite being a Vicar,Kingsley found no problem believing Darwin's thesis of natural selection.
