Bird specimens,18th-century artwork. The hooded crow (Corvus cornix,upper left,also 'sea-crow'),is found on the Isle of Man. The toucan-like bird ('Brazilian magpie',upper right) was found dead on the Lancashire coast after a violent hailstorm,which also killed a tropicbird (centre left,family Phaethontidae). At centre right is a copped wren. At lower left is an osprey (Pandion haliaetus). At lower right is a Soland goose (Anser bassanus).
