Great crested grebe (Podiceps cristatus) chick attempting to swallow a signal crayfish (Pacifastacus leniusculus). One of the chick's parents is at right. This bird is found on waters throughout most of Europe and Asia. It feeds on fish and crustaceans in lakes and rivers,diving from the water's surface to catch its prey.
