Coloured infrared satellite imagery of Hurricane Harvey hitting the coast of Texas, USA, in August 2017. Having rapidly strengthened to a category four hurricane, Harvey made landfall in Rockport, Texas, on 26th August. It brought destructive winds and huge amounts of rainfall to the region, causing widespread flooding that affected large parts of the Houston Metropolitan Area. The first half of this clip shows the contiguous United States, while the second half is a crop to the Gulf of Mexico region. Data from the GOES EAST satellite. | |
