Effects of 1950s Soviet atom bomb test. Footage of trees and buildings destroyed by the shockwave from an atomic bomb during a Soviet nuclear test in the 1950s. This test took place at the Semipalatinsk Test Site in what is now Kazakhstan. A total of 456 Soviet nuclear tests were conducted at the Semipalatinsk site between 1949 and 1989.
