Ghost Head Nebula. Artist's animation of NGC 2080 (The Ghost Head Nebula), an emission nebula and star-forming region to the south of the Tarantula nebula, in the southern constellation Dorado. NGC 2080 has a diameter of 50 light-years, and is 168, 000 light-years away in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy to the Milky Way. It was discovered by John Frederick William Herschel in 1834. | |
